Using the Nexar App to Report Drivers with Dashcam Footage
The Nexar App works with Nexar dashcams (or your smartphone) to automatically record driving incidents. While Nexar does not have a built-in public reporting system like PlateWire or Citizen, you can still use the footage to report dangerous drivers through other official channels.
How to Report a Driver Using the Nexar App & Dashcam Footage
Step 1: Record the Incident with Nexar Dashcam
- Nexar automatically records and detects events like hard braking, collisions, and sudden stops.
- If an incident occurs, ensure the video is saved to your phone or Nexar Cloud.
Step 2: Retrieve the Dashcam Footage
- Open the Nexar App.
- Go to “Recent Drives” and find the relevant video.
- Tap “Export Video” to download it or create a shareable link.
Step 3: Report the Driver Using the Video
Since Nexar doesn’t have a built-in reporting feature, you can report dangerous drivers using the dashcam footage in these ways:
✅ Law Enforcement (Local Police, Highway Patrol, or 911 in Emergencies)
- Visit your local police department’s website to check if they accept online submissions.
- Provide details like the license plate, location, and type of violation (reckless driving, hit-and-run, etc.).
- Attach the Nexar video link if submitting online.
✅ Insurance Claims (If an Accident Occurred)
- Use Nexar’s Instant Report feature to send footage directly to insurance companies.
