Operation Dashcam is a program designed to support law enforcement and state agencies in establishing dashcam video reporting systems. Modeled after the successful Operation Snap from the United Kingdom, Operation Dashcam helps police departments efficiently accept and process dashcam footage of dangerous driving incidents. The program aims to simplify the submission of reports and video evidence, making it easier to address unsafe driving on the roads. Learn more about Operation Snap.

Currently, the United Kingdom stands out as one of the few countries with a dedicated network for reporting dangerous drivers using video evidence. In contrast, most areas in the United States lack an efficient system for submitting dashcam footage to authorities. As highlighted in our Reporting Link Directory, there is no widespread, organized system in place. While some states or local municipalities may offer a way to report unsafe driving via phone or the internet, only a few have established reporting systems through their motor vehicle agencies, highway patrol, or transportation safety boards. Additionally, certain state programs exist for reporting elderly drivers, commercial vehicles, or government vehicles. Learn more about different ways to report unsafe drivers on our Reporting A Driver page.
Operation Dashcam was developed to offer guidance and resources to help authorities establish an effective unsafe driver reporting program in their jurisdiction. For more information on setting up a reporting system, please visit the Operation Dashcam website.
