Editing you Dashcam video
Why would you edit your video from your dashcam?
It is usually a good idea to do some initial editing of your dashcam video. You may want to shorten the original video, shrink the file size, or crop the video to share on social media apps. Some social media apps have file size restrictions or want an aspect ratio of 9:16/ Many dash cams produce aspect ratio 16:9. Also it may be easier to send via email if the video file is smaller. Some Social media apps also have a time limit. It is better to make the video short as possible by removing irrelevant footage for easy viewing.
How do you Download a video from a dashcam?
Many of the newer dashcams include apps you can download on your phone. This allows you to connect your phone to the dashcam using wifi and download the video to your phone. If your dashcam does not have an app, you may have to remove the sd card and plug it into the sd card reader in order to access it on your phone, tablet or pc.
Using your dashcam app to retrieve your Videos
Your dashcam app may not have all the features needed to properly edit the footage the way you need it. Once the video is on your phone, you can edit the phone using an app on your phone or transfer it to your pc or tablet.
You can either plug your phone to your pc or use cloud apps like dropbox or google drive to transfer files between your phone and your pc.
